GROOMS

info and pic here

JEFF : THE BROTHERHOOD

"the height of backyard-rock-excellence. I think the best way to describe them would be that they are a total bro band." - The New York Rockmarket
"JEFF The Brotherhood is Jake and Jamin Orrall, two brothers that play drums and guitar. They grew up in Tennessee making music and trying to have a good time. Since their inception they have been playing anywhere from house parties to rooftops, backyards, bars and art galleries and releasing their own records, tapes, comic books and home made videos.

The Brotherhood has been called "kraut punk", "psychedelic grunge" and "noise pop" drawing comparisons to bands like Hawkwind, Wipers, and early Sonic Youth." - Panache

COIN UNDER TONGUE

"Coin Under Tongue might be one of the best band names ever."- Audio Current
"Then, as they slowly emerged from the murk, the band cranked out some of the heaviest, nastiest post-hardcore I've ever heard. The distorted bass crashes through like a drunk mammoth but the man behind the sound, George Wilson (oddly enough, formerly of slowcore dream-pop outfit Dirty on Purpose) is anything but clumsy, shredding some deliciously difficult riffs. The similarly-lumbering guitar cuts like a slow-motion buzz saw while Joe Kelly howls death metal renditions of secretly lovable melodies. I was also pleasantly surprised by the variety the band offered, some songs more gentle or even downright pretty, some faster and post-punkier, some cleaner and some noisier - you'd be hard put to accuse this band of always sounding the same." - Radio Flyer Review
"Coin Under Tongue are drawing from a far wider pallet than the feedback loving British acts of the late '80s and early '90s. And while I can't say I ever wanted to hear a band channel both Sabbath and Joy Division in the same song, now that I have, I'm wondering why no one thought of this combination sooner." - I Rock Cleveland
"Describing Coin Under Tongue isn't easy. While most firmly rooted in post-punk, the band slips through styles like a chameleon. There's plenty of noise and garage rock, but there's definitely a 70's Southern rock tinge dancing along with hardcore and something surprisingly booty shaking rears its ugly little head from time to time. Ultimately, I don't know what to call Coin Under Tongue, but I surely love it." - Delusions Of Adequacy

SISTERS

S I S T E R S ******************** Sisters ------ guitar/vocal and drums two piece out of the Death by Audio music collective in Brooklyn. Aaron Pfannebecker sings and plays guitars. Matt Conboy is the drummer, keyboard player. Sisters is rock pop collage with garage fallout. Noisy guitars with melody and screeching beautiful vocals over the hardest hitting drums. Crooked guitar sounds creating fragmented pop songs. "The first song posted on Sisters’ MySpace page begins with a chugging guitar and childlike keyboard melody; Aaron Pfannebecker’s speak-sung vocals sound so earnest, they could’ve been lifted from a Sixteen Candles voiceover. And then all hell breaks loose. Matt Conboy goes crazy on the drums, and the guitar and keyboard get tunneled through heavy effects, positioning the band to receive countless comparisons to No Age and Wavves. From song to song, Pfannebecker’s vocals jump ship, going from boyish to screechy to screamy, separating Sisters from the other guitar-drum duos of the times." - L MAGAZINE http://www.sisterssound.com

DEATH BY AUDIO RECORD STORE

You made it! Welcome to the Death By Audio Records Store.
We know it must be hard to decide what to buy with all these choices.
It may be easier to just roll a six sided die.
STARRING- WIFE OF GOD (LP/CD) - (DBA-008)- Founded in 2008 by Pterodactyl drummer Matt Marlin and Skeleton$ keyboardist Mike Gallope, STARRING revisits the terrain of progressive rock by distilling it to its essence. Starring plays “prog rock” because they are in love with a sense of unscripted fun, looking to spit beer, exhilarate and electrify rather than be like "dude, check my chops.". Starring combines the forces of farfisa, viola, guitar and bass to sculpt driving, heavy, high-speed sound guns aimed at stealth bomber choruses. Beneath it all, Matt Marlin’s notoriously frenzied drumming, propels this distortion-addicted quintet from one transfixing riff to the next. PURSESNATCHERS / COIN UNDER TONGUE 7" - (DBA-006)
From the control center/hobo fallout shelter known as Death By Audio comes this split 7" from two friendly Brooklyn bands, Pursesnatchers & Coin Under Tongue. These groups have stretched their style arms across their normal sound fences to join hands in vinyl. Pursesnatchers reach for the rock sky on "Certain Famous Covered Bridges", a majestic paean to Tennessee drifting, whereas Coin Under Tongue scale back for a coed duet of pop worship on "Turnaround". Both songs feature Annie Hart from Au Revoir Simone and are wrapped in a foldout, inked scene from frequent Bright Eyes artist Kaite Murphy. Vinyl is stamped in random, swirled colors - will vary.
GROOMS - REJOICER - (DBA-005)
Grooms are three friends in Brooklyn who play a structurally mutilated brand of noise-pop featuring blissful interplay, sonic experimentation, and song destruction. The band (formerly known as Muggabears) is rooted in Death By Audio, a fertile ground for the band's expansive, forward-looking catchiness. With moods that swing from the gloomy to the gleaming, Grooms craft songs filled with beauty, gloom, and irony-free whimsy.

COIN UNDER TONGUE 1st LP -COIN UNDER TONGUE/HUSSIES AT BAY (DBA-002)
Real ink was pushed through actual screens and then the sleeve was thrown on the fucking dirty-ass floor. The story of redneck transplants making a record under ultrashitty Brooklyn conditions . SISTERS / JEFF: THE BROTHERHOOD SPLIT 7" (DBA-003)
Death By Audio Records have teamed up with our tight bros. from down south, Infinity Cat Recordings, on this split 7". This round vinyl object contains the song by Sisters,"Highway Scratch". It was recorded by Joe Kelly in the DBA Studio, mastered by Ollie Ackermann, and printed on one side. The other side contains a JEFF: The Brotherhood song, "Mind Ride" to be specific. This record gets played so often at the loft that we think some people may be getting sick of it. More likely, it's the asbestos pipes making them sick, but whatever.
ALL SOLD OUT!!!
SEAWHORES "BUILDING BETTER BOMBS" CASSETTE (DBA-004)
We had big plans for the future for this Doom Pop squad, but right now we have 20 tapes. We had 50 but 30 were stolen! And then Adam done went and signed to some other label and all we have left are faded memories and like 15 more of these tapes. If his talents were athletes at an Olympic event, he'd have to take up 4 tracks on a 3 man relay race. And that's just a summer event! this tape is like a grab bag- I can't really say what's on it because I don't have one of those old tape machines from the Ice Age, but just look at it. It's screenprinted at least 3X. The music is surely FUCT UP. What else do you expect from a man who collaborated with a Playstation? Also, these tapes smell great, like a new deck of notecards. SOLD OUT!!!
